JST Bassforge Rex Brown Review

JST Bassforge Rex Brown Review

Joey Sturgis Tones have teamed up with Rex Brown to develop a plugin to help you to recreate his classic bass tones. Rex Brown might not have received as much attention as other members of Pantera but, in my opinion, he was absolutely vital in giving the band their legendary sound. In fact, it’s hard to find a more solid bass player in metal music. Dimebag’s tone wasn’t pretty but it was effective, however, it needed a great bass tone behind it to really give it some warmth and weight. Rex Brown found the ideal tones to do just that and add an extra dimension of his own.

Can the same great tones be found in a plugin? Let’s find out. Continue reading →

Necronautical Share Title Track ‘Apotheosis’ And Release New Album

Necronautical Share Title Track ‘Apotheosis’ And Release New Album

UK black-metal outfit Necronautical who release their new album this Friday through world-renowned extreme metal label Candlelight Records have shared the title track Apotheosis’. The band comment,

“We are pleased to present the title track from our new album, ‘Apotheosis’. When we arranged the album, we treated it’s central song as the climax of its musical and lyrical concept. The lyrics are a reflection on the nature of mortality, and on the journey of a thought from its origin into a belief. The word “Apotheosis” means the highest point of something’s development, or it’s elevation to divine status. To reflect this in the music, the song was constructed to elevate the epic and melancholic melody of it’s central riff, which serves as the musical apex of this record. We hope this track will take you on a grimly euphoric journey!

Music Video: The Hellfreaks – Men In Grey

Music Video: The Hellfreaks – Men In Grey

In January 2020 Hellfreaks’ fourth album “God On The Run” will be released. The band has been working on the new songs for over two years, fulfilling their old dream to work with foreign producers. For pre-production work Paul Miner(New Glory, Atreyu, Death By Stereo), for production/mixing Evan Rodaniche(Escape The Fate, Powerman 5000, Lacey Sturm), and for the mastering Tom Waltzjoined them to provide the perfect final form for the band’s songs and ideas.

Thanks to Mihaszna Film, the first video clip has been made for the track “Men In Grey”. It focuses on the value of time and its irreplaceable and irreversible nature. “Under the pressure of everyday performance stress, everybody is constantly striving for efficiency, trying tomake every moment of their lives worthwhile, because our social worth is determined by the achievements in our work. Meanwhile, we do not have the time to ask ourselves: Is this really the key to success and happiness?” Continue reading →
