Fortin Amplification Meet The Makers

Meet The Makers – Fortin Amplification

Fortin Amplification is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the metal guitar scene at the moment. Need an incredibly high quality, hand-built amp? A new pedal to add to your board? An amp plugin for recording with? Choose something with the Fortin name on it and you won’t be disappointed.

I was lucky enough to grab five minutes of their time for this week’s Meet The Makers.

1. What are the core values of your brand?

To bring great heavy guitar tone and customer service to heavy musicians that keeps quality always as high as possible.  Quality is everything to us.  We create solutions for the most discerning professional musician.

2. What do you think sets you apart from everyone else?

There are lots of great manufacturers out there, but perhaps it is the fact that we are musicians ourselves, and we never release anything that we would not want to play ourselves.  That and a rigorous, borderline obsessive attention to quality.  We speak to artists, learn what they want and need, and that gives us ideas of where a product needs to go and how it should start to take shape.  Nothing is ever rushed, and we would never release a product unless we would put it in our personal arsenal.

3. Are there any design features you are especially proud of?

We are really proud of the ZUUL right now, and our newest amp, the CALI.

4. Where do you see the industry going in the future?

The industry is cyclical, so once everything gets more compact and blended with some digital options, people will eventually return to the real tube tones.  It is a great time to be a guitarist, so many innovative products out there making life easier, and once the industry stagnates for a bit on digital, it will return to smaller tube solutions.  Hope that answers the question!

5. Is there a guitarist you’d love to work on a new product with?

So many!  We do have some collaborations in the works with some amazing, and well-respected industry leaders, but as far as guys we aren’t currently working with, Adam “Nergal” Darski, Matt Heafy (Trivium), and the guys in Slipknot.  Each of those artists have such a unique approach to tone that each would be fun projects.
