Yorkshire artist, Christopher Taylor, is a song-writer who loves to work both alone and in collaboration with other musicians and friends.

Over the years he has played and sung in a number of bands and as a solo artist, at all sorts of events and venues. Having been a professional musician in his 20’s, in 2011 Chris got the opportunity to once again play professionally which gave more time for his real passion for writing and performing his own songs.

It is as a soloist (vocals and guitar) that he currently gigs most of the time, although he can also call upon other musicians to add that extra colour as and when required.

Quick Questions With Christopher Taylor

1. Who inspired you to start playing?

I think it would have to be Alice Cooper. It was seeing him and the band on Top of the Pops that really made me think I want to have a bit of that. I had a go at the piano and it wasn’t really for me but once I picked up the guitar I was hooked.

2. Which piece of equipment couldn’t you live without

My Taylor GS Mini – I’ve got a few guitars but this once is a great guitar to play live. I also use it in the studio, the tone is spot on for my style of playing.

3. What’s your favourite album of the year so far?

I think it would have to be the latest one by Counting Crows called Butter Miracle Suite One.

4. If you could have a lesson from anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?

Tough question but probably Prince. Really love his guitar style and the way he moved on stage as he played. A great stage presence.

5. What is your number one tip for any new player?

‘Make time to play everyday’ would be my advice. When I went pro again 11 years ago I needed to learn a whole host of cover songs and was playing like 3-4 hors a day. The improvement in my chords and different styles of playing really stood out.
