Quick Questions With Pressure

Who are Pressure I hear you ask? Well if you had to tag them with a genre the one that fits best is a ‘melodic rock’ but they’re so much more than that. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden and with vocalist Olof Jönsson you can always guarantee soaring, athletic and committed vocals. Together with a twin guitar sound coming from songwriter and lead guitarist Simon “Siirpo” Forsell and Emil Salling.

Their work often focuses and embraces the pressures felt from everyday existence. Their lyrics ably demonstrating that there are two sides to every story – the good and the bad. Every song has a double meaning and they truly see music as a tool to handle the different pressures thrown at us from the modern world.

The band began their journey together in 2018, and since then they’ve worked tirelessly developing their sound and live performance, their aim? To make memories with their fans and to an epic musical soundtrack.

A quote that can summarize their lyrics is: “How can you tell a story about life if you haven’t dared to live life to its fullest!

Pressure is all about every story, every moment, every Pressure!

Quick Questions With Pressure

Who inspired you to start playing?

I started playing at a very young age. I think I was around 6 years old. I come from a family where we had a lot of music. Both my parents were playing different kind of instruments and I tried a few other instruments before finding love for the guitar! It stuck with me through all my years. I have also had a lot of good teachers that inspired me and kept me going. Then I started listening to different guitarist and got inspired by the fact that different people could get so different tone out of the same instrument. You can say that I really got inspired by the guitar itself. Its an instrument who really let you channel your inner soul.

Which piece of equipment couldn’t you live without?

As for right now I would say that its my in ear monitor which let me hear and really get the feedback I need. I didn’t work with in ear monitors for a long time and relied on the master sound and floor monitors. But had a “moment” when our lead singer brought his and I said to myself that I must have been really stupid not using this. Its not just a great way of getting exactly the mix you want, its also saving your ears.

What’s your favourite album of the year so far?

There has been a lot of cool new albums this year. But “Power up” with AC/DC was really good. Haha, and I have a weak spot for the Finnish Monsters Lordi! Killection is a good album!

If you could have a lesson from anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?

Oh, there is many guitarist I would love to learn from. Eric Clapton, Gary Moore or Eddie Van Halen to mention a few. Fantastic with their tone and melodic sense!

What is your number one tip for any new player?

To keep at it. Its so important to remember to practice to never give up and to have fun. You don’t have to practice all scales, you can find a teacher or a youtube teacher who really want you learn and that you want to mimic. Listen to great solos, by different players and try to play exactly as them. Then when you get it wrong, go with it and find your own style. Keep practicing and remember that the guitar is one of your best friends in the world!
