dwi Releases His Debut Single And Video For “Freak N Out”

Vancouver music scene veteran and bass player for The Zolas, dwi has just released his debut single and video for “Freak N Out”. This is the first offering from dwi’s upcoming EP, set for release in September on Light Organ Records.

The video for “Freak N Out” takes the listener through a psychedelic dreamscape where dwi snakes through pockets of dark and light, rain and shine, and even dances with a life-size teddy bear. The hypnotizing beats hint of 90s Brit Pop, together with some spacy grooves, sunset hues, and a bit of Bowie’s bubble gum. Fans of Mac DeMarco, Real Estate, and indie legends the Sea and Cake will jump on dwi’s open vocals and chill synth sounds. The songs are personal yet familiar, soothing to the ear, and full of summer hope.

dwi’s deeply personal solo project was born out of the isolation that ensued as a result of the 2020 global pandemic. dwi used the time to create something new, exciting, and introspective. The breezy songs are reflective in nature, and touch on a range of topics  including childhood, environmentalism, addiction, and the political landscape of the world. Obvious nods to musical heroes such as The Beatles, Damon Albarn, and The Cure are heard throughout. dwi’s melodic indie pop is your new, lazy, summer jam.

Perseide Release New Single – ‘9th life’

“Time has run out, the world is dying, it’s time to surrender! If we were cats, it would be our 9th life; as humans, this is our last. Let’s react before it’s too late. This song deals with the emergency of the worldwide situation: global pandemic, ecological disaster… It’s not about giving miraculous solutions, it’s about raising awareness and to reflect all together concerning the best solution. We can do it!”

New Release: Keep Me Down – Breathe

New Release: Keep Me Down – Breathe

Blending influences such as Peter Gabriel and Pink Floyd, Breathe marks a change in styles for Keep Me Down.

Mark Smith said –

The Breathe writing session started off on the piano which is pretty unusual for me. This took me in a different direction compared to when I write on the guitar. While I was writing it I actually thought it might not feature guitars at all but then I got out my new Schecter Nick Johnston signature model and the Gilmour style licks seemed to come pouring out.

Released on Saturday 1st of August, Breathe is available now on all of the major streaming services.

Since 2017, something has been lurking in the shadows around Merseyside, snarling from the unseen corners with a piercing horror-metal atmosphere; that something is Video Nasties, and they’re ready to strike with their moral-panic inducing heaviness.

Barrens Release New Single ‘Arc Eye’ And Debut Album Will Be Released In April

Gothenburg, Sweden-based post-rock trio Barrens, featuring members of long-running alternative/experimental indie rock unit Scraps Of Tape, will release their debut full-length, Penumbra, April 10th via Pelagic Records.

While there is a great deal of common ground between what Scraps Of Tape and BARRENS create musically, Barrens develops their own idiosyncratic sound on Penumbra. Driven as much by synths as guitars, Penumbra oscillates between the dark and bright sides of post-rock. Conceptually, the record centers itself on the topics of change, metamorphosis, and transformation, “especially movement into, through, out of shadows, and back again,” notes guitarist Johan G. Winther. “Being both lost in darkness yet finding comfort there. Seeking it. Afloat in blinding light, suspended in darkness,” as it is etched into the vinyl. Continue reading →
